A lot of people incorrectly center "emotional intelligence" around a person's ability to be aware of and empathize with other people's emotions. While that certainly is an aspect of EQ, that's not the core identifier of a high EQ.
High emotional intelligence actually centers around a person's ability to understand, manage, and express their own emotions, particularly during challenging times or moments of intense stress and pressure.
Simone Biles' recent decision is a perfect example of that.
Glad to see Inc. Magazine / Justin Bariso center the narrative of her decision around an example of emotional intelligence, instead of the other BS narratives out there.
