International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia 2021

On May 17th, 1990, WHO removed homosexuality from its list of classified diseases.

Yes, you read that correctly.

31 years ago, homosexuality was still classified as a disease by the World Health Organization.

Today, we commemorate the declassification and observe International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

There has been so much progress made in the 31 years since the declassification, but there is still SO much work to be done.

How are you helping better LGBTQ+ belonging at your company?

Are you celebrating LGBTQ+ employees year-round or just during holiday months / commemorative days?

Are you using inclusive language and policies, regardless of if you have openly LGBTQ+ employees or not?

Are you including LGBTQ+ harassment in your anti-harassment training?

Are you considering your LGBTQ+ employees when building your benefit programs, ensuring LGBTQ+ care is covered?

We must do more. Not just in June. Not just today.

But, every damn day.
