The Invisible Veterans: The 1 Million LGBTQ+ Folx Who Have Served

There are an estimated 1 million LGBTQ+ Veterans in the United States.

It’s important to remember:

▪️It was less than a decade ago that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was an official policy in the US military.

▪️It was a little over 3 years ago that there was an all out ban on trans folx serving in any capacity in the U.S. Military.

▪️It was a little over a year ago that the DOD issued a transphobic policy on trans military service, including limiting access to medical treatment and making it more difficult for trans folx to be recruited.

This #VeteransDay, I acknowledge and celebrate all #LGBTQ veterans. We see you, and we are so thankful for your service. 🏳️‍🌈
